July 18, 2024 Savage Bikes are Back!

July 18, 2024

Savage Bicycle Company is making a comeback after 35 years since the last model was produced in Chipman, NB. This local brand, known for its incredible value and performance is again catching the attention of cycling enthusiasts in New Brunswick

Reviving a Legacy

With a rich history dating back to the 1800's Savage's Bicycle Shop entered the manufacturing business in the mid-eighties. Located in Chipman, New Brunswick bikes were shipped to dealers globally.  Production ended in the early nineties.  After a long hiatus, the brand is back with a renewed focus on craftsmanship, value, and performance all while staying true to its legacy. When designing and working to create these new models, Matt knew that he didn't have to re-create the wheel -- "with so much history and work done so many years ago, we had a lot of material and ideas from which to draw -- from color schemes, logo designs and naming, we didn't do anything by accident --  everything you see on these bikes was made that way for a reason."

New Models

Savage Bicycles has recently unveiled two new models -- the Big Reg -- an homage to Matt's father, Reg Savage.  "I can't think of a better way to acknowledge our past buy naming our flagship model after my Dad, and I knew that we'd have to make sure that the bike is exceptional in every way if he was going to approve.  I'm happy to report that he loves the bike!"

The second model is the Savage Odell -- named after Odell park located in Fredericton, NB.  Matt recalls, "I grew up riding bikes in Odell park, and it seemed an obvious and natural way to stay rooted to our community -- the name on this bike provides a constant reminder of where we come from and we are proud of that.  The Savage Odell is an excellent bike that will hopefully be the one that riders explore and find their freedom with."

It's been a long time...

As Savage Bicycles re-enters the market, it has been met with local approval. The brand's commitment to quality, performance, and design is obvious as the bikes can be seen on trails around Fredericton and beyond.

It's been 35 years since the last Savage Bicycle was produced. It's been a long time coming, but as Matt says "It was worth the wait.   I am incredibly proud of the product and nothing makes me happier than seeing them in use -- that's the ultimate measuring stick of success in the bike business for me."

Savage bikes can be purchased at Savage's Bicycle Centre in Fredericton, New Brunswick.  Stay tuned for new dealers in your region.
